Where is Posada Amazonas?
Immerse in the Peruvian Amazon of Tambopata. Only Accessible by River
Posada Amazonas is located within 9,500 hectares of protected rainforest in the communal reserve of the Ese Eja Native Community of Infierno, directly connected to the Tambopata National Reserve, one of Peru’s most important conservation areas.
Your Amazon experience begins with a short flight to Puerto Maldonado, the gateway city to Tambopata, followed by a scenic one-hour drive and a peaceful one-hour boat journey along the Tambopata River. There are no roads leading to the lodge, no nearby neighbors, and no highways breaking the harmony of the forest — access is exclusively by river, ensuring a truly immersive jungle experience from the moment you arrive.
We offer fixed daily departures from Puerto Maldonado for arrivals before 13 hrs. The last day you can book any flight departing from 11:30 hrs.
Behind the lodge lies an expansive corridor of protected rainforest, where the communal reserve merges with the Tambopata National Reserve, creating a continuous conservation area in the region. This privileged location makes Posada Amazonas not just an ecolodge, but a key ally in the long-term preservation of the Amazon Rainforest.
Easy to reach. Fully immersed in nature. Protected by the people who call this forest home.

We had a wonderful rainforest experience. Getting close to nature whilst still having some home comforts . The beds were really comfortable with an excellent mosquito net system .we didn't have one bite. The guides are excellent and our group loved Hans who was wonderful and very knowledgeable. The food was good and we enjoyed a convivial dining experience. Read all
This place is absolutely fantastic! Without a doubt our favorite part of Peru. Not only was the lodge very comfortable with great service and food, it truly is in the jungle and full of adventure. It’s very get up and go with no wasted time, sometimes getting up at 4 am to hike. But this place is not a resort it’s an eco lodge in the jungle. If you’re looking for adventure this is the place to go. Our guide Rodolfo was so knowledgeable and could see animals from practically a mile away in the trees. We saw so many animals, insects, plants, and more and learned a lot about them. Rodolfo was great and so was the management, they were extremely accommodating and helpful when we had different departure plans from the rest of our group. I can’t recommend it enough! Read all
What a place. Even getting here was an adventure. We loved how well organised everything was. From being met at the airport all members of staff were so helpful and nothing was a problem. The boat ride to the lodge gives you an insight as to how good the next few days are going to be. It is about a 10 minute walk from the river and there are a few stairs but we soon got used to them. The rooms were spacious and comfortable. It is a little unnerving at first when you see how close you are to the forest and the animals but it is all part of the adventure. The communal areas of the lodge are very comfortable and a great place to hang out inbetween activities. It was always nice to come back to a cold drink and a slice of cake. Meals were all buffet style and there was always plenty of choice at breakfast, lunch and dinner. The bar had a good selection of beers, wines and cocktails. The activities were what made our holiday and we had Rodolpho who was a great guide. He went at our pace and made sure we got the best out of each day. We saw some amazing animals as well as learnt alot about life for people who live in the Amazon. A great place that I would highly recommend people to go to. Read all
We loved the service, they were always attentive to us, the food was delicious, a guy named Persi took great care of us, he was so lovely and treated his customers well. The rooms were the only downside, as they aren't very well protected and there were lots of animals in the room, which was difficult for someone who isn't used to that , but the food and service were the best, and the guide was also very good and always attentive. Rooms: There should be better protection because there were a lot of frogs in the room and a lot of bugs. Nearby activities: The activities were very, very good, and the guides were very attentive and explained everything. Safety: Very safe in terms of your personal belongings. Walkability: All day long, if you like. Food & drinks: Always fresh and delicious. Read all
We had such a wonderful visit that far exceeded our expectations. Everything was delightful and the employees all so warm and helpful. Amazing accommodations, food, beauty, experiences. We stayed four nights and did so many activities and saw so many birds, plants, flowers, otters, capybaras and monkeys. We experienced one of the cold fronts so the temperatures were so nice and they tucked a hot water bottle into our beds. Read all

Spent a brilliant three days immersed in the Amazon. The lodge is quite remote and the rooms are open to the jungle, but that is all part of the experience. Lots of journeys up and down the Amazon. Great staff including our guide Ramao who was absolutely brilliant. Read all
This is the place to immerse yourself in the Amazon, while staying in comfort. The food reminds me of a cruise ship- where there is plenty of delicious variety and I want to keep eating beyond when I am full! Wonderful hikes and terrific guides: Empe helped us find wildlife and see all the views. Noteworthy details: Attentive staff to all our needs. Read all
I took a group of 31 teachers/students to Posadas Amazonas lodge (it was not my first time at the lodge). The group was met at the airport and transported to a local school where we did a little service learning that was organised by Rainforest Expeditions. We were then transferred by boat to the lodge. The accommodation was exceptional, the food was excellent, the staff all very friendly and accommodating. They went above and beyond and made a birthday cake for one of the students in the group but was enough to feed the whole group. The guides were very knowledgeable of the flora and fauna which is what my group needed as they were doing studies in Geography and Biology. We touched on everything that my students needed to complete their work and have a proper experiential educational experience. The group was in constant amazement, especially when I took them up to the canopy tower to star gaze at night, what an incredible experience overall. Read all
Great place just like in the pictures! Enjoyed 4 nights here, which is what most people do. The excursions were fun; however, be warned that some of those have large groups, especially the Otter one. They say no larger groups than 10, but they just add more guides, and then it is multiple groups. The food was very good, and the WiFi was strong, and Bryan, the Bartender, was good. Read all
This was at the top of my list of favorite places in Peru, right under Machu Picchu. Such a great atmoaphere, knowledgeable guides and the food was awesome. I especially appreciated the role they have in wildlife conservation within the amazon and how they incorporate it into all experiences there. I learned a ton about the birds, insects and mammals that enhabit the amazon while there. Would like to return some point in the future. Read all
